Asthma…..What do most asthmatics die from?

Researchers from Stanford and Cornell Universities reviewed 19 studies involving nearly 34,000 patients and found that people using popular drug inhalers for asthma were 2.5 times more likely to be hospitalized for severe asthma attacks and 3.5 times more likely to die than those using different inhalers. 5000 people die each year from asthma in the US and about 4000 are caused by these drugs.

BrainsTo take things even further, there was a study in Australia a few years ago, that found consistent chiropractic care reduced and eliminated the need for inhalers in 30% of people studied. How Cool!
The Brain…..The brain is amazing, and we are learning more and more about it each day. I receive a weekly newsletter from Dr. Amen MD(www.amenclinics.com). In his most recent newsletter he talks about the positive effects of exercise on the brain.  Here is an excerpt from his last newsletter.

EXERCISE BUILDS STRONG BRAINS!

We’ve known for many years about the physiological benefits of exercise. Certainly it’s good for our hearts, lungs and muscles. Recently, studies have shown the remarkable effect regular exercise has on our brains and mental wellness.

I’ve referred to it as “medicine’s dirty little secret”. In head to head studies, regular aerobic exercise has been shown to be just about as effective as certain popular anti-depression medications for treating clinical depression.

Back Surgery……..Does it work?

Two studies were conducted. The first in Cincinnati and the second in Washington state. Both studies had similar results, patients who had low back pain and went through surgery mostly were taking narcotics at the follow up, needed a second surgery or were still not working a year later. I suggest if you or anyone you know is suffering from back pain…..get it checked out before it is TOO LATE.

High Blood Pressure……The Seattle PI recently had an article stating the positive effects of chiropractic on high blood pressure. There has been a lot of positive press  after a Chicago based study of 50 people with high blood pressure determined a significant decrease in blood pressure after just one adjustment. We have moved to 905 NE 45th St. Ste B….Seattle WA 98109. The main intersection is 45th St NE and Roosevelt. The office is next to the PETCO and the 76 gas station across the street from the movie theatre in the Kennedy building. Parking is available for free underground.

Email or Call and sign up for a custom yoga /core strengthening class. A yoga instructor will teach about 5-6 yoga poses that I feel are essential as well as a few home exercises that will keep that core strong. Dec. 17th at 6:30pm. Only 5 spots remain, cost is $10 for you and a partner. I highly recommend bringing a partner….this will encourage you, help you remember the exercises, and bring health to the people around you.
